Samsung Expands Spinpoint N Line

Samsung has led another technological breakthrough with its Spinpoint N line, where the 1.8" N3U hard drive is capable of holding up to 250GB of storage space, spread across two platters. This new hard drive ought to up the ante for portable media players as well as netbooks that want to achieve a similar capacity as that of a 2.5" notebook drive, albeit in a much smaller and portable form factor while sipping 40% less juice in the process. In addition, the N3U connects via USB, making it suitable as an external hard drive to boot. All versions of the new Spinpoint will spin at 3,600RPM and feature 8MB of cache, although you can still opt for the 120GB, 160GB and 200GB capacities to suit your budget. Prices max out at around $199 for the 250GB drive.
