Guitar Hero Lined Up To Hit Arcades In January

If you've been diligently spending thousands of hours becoming a true Guitar Hero master over the last few years you'll probably appreciate the opportunity to show off your silky skills in public. Well, according to recent reports it sounds you won't have to wait much longer as 'Guitar Hero Arcade' will be winging its way to the UK high street as soon as next month, a version that'll be based on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Considering the popularity of the game you might be surprised this hasn't arrived already but licensing issues and various other factors have so far prevented it from being unveiled. Activision has now teamed up with Konami, who'll be bringing some coin-op nous to the table, so it sounds like you'll still be able to play all of your favourite songs from all of your favourite artists. Andrew Eloff, VP of Guitar Hero Arcade Developer Raw Thrills, says "Konami has all this experience with doing coin-op games and Activision has the number one domestic music game. So, I think it's kind of a match made in heaven. It makes a lot a lot of sense. The thing with Guitar Hero that's so frightening is there's so much licensing [music, patents] associated with it. We're not set up to do all that. When Konami came to us, asking us if we wanted to develop Guitar Hero, we felt like this was a perfect symbiotic relationship." Let's hope so, as I for one will be keeping an eye out for it in the New Year. - Paul Lester [TechRadar] Guitar Hero arcade gaming
