Digi-Mug Enters For Most Ridiculous Gadget Awards, 2009
There are plenty of ridiculous gadgets out there and as we saw yesterday, cramming technology into common household items is nothing new. Unfortunately people take it too far sometimes and it's almost annoying to think that actual money (often some tax-payer's money, at some point down the line) goes into creating such useless tat. The gadget that got our goat today is this 'Digi-mug', which is a thermos-flask-type coffee mug with a digital photo viewer on the outside. Honestly, have you ever been staring blankly at your brew wishing that you could somehow browse a small collection of photos instead of gazing at the bland white china? We didn't think so, and yet somehow you now have the ability to 'share your photos with your co-workers and friends' in just this way. There's 1MB of memory built in, which is enough for around 50 passport-sized piccies that you can view through the 1.5" display. There's also a clock. Ooohh... and a backlight control. Now, we're assuming that whoever invented this was thoughtful enough to put some sort of rubber cap over the data/charge port, otherwise it'll be ruined the first time you wash it. Even if they did, we wouldn't imagine it would last more than a few washes before it comes off. Ah well, the good news is it doesn't appear to be available in the UK, and Urban Trend, who is linked below, don't offer a price and instead prefer you to email them for more information. Probably so they can lock you up in the looney-bin with the guy that invented it. - Paul Lester [UrbanTrend] digital photos novelty gadget
