Wii Push Up Bar For Your Exercise Needs

If you rely on Wii Fit to help you keep in shape, you’ll probably have noticed that the Wii Fit balance board gives you a limited range of push-up motions, so you can’t do the really tough pushups that you think will turn you into the cover for a magazine. With the Wii Push Up Bar, you’ll be able to perform much deeper push ups, giving you a much better workout. It’ll work in conjunction with the Wii Fit balance board, and is currently going for $25 on Amazon, which is probably a small price to pay for the perfect body, right?

OnLive Game Service out this June 17

Mark June 17 on your calendars as that would be when the OnLive&nbsp’Games-on-Demand’ service powered by cloud-servers arrives. Steve Perlman and Mike McGarvey, founders of OnLive, has taken the opportunity to announce the subscription plans for the service for both PCs and Macs, albeit only for folks living in the US, with no word on availability and their respective subscription plans for the European region at the moment. What is OnLive? It is a ‘Games on Demand’ service powered by Cloud-servers and based on subscription model. The moment you access the huge library of games, you can play them instantly over the Internet without having to worry about system compatibility and going through the whole tedious installation process. With 720p HD quality video gaming, expect to spend more time cooped up at home now. For more context, check out our hands-on of the OnLive Game Service at last year’s GDC.

Who would have thought that the regular game of Rock-Paper-Scissors would have evolved from using nothing but one’s hand to a gloved, electronic version? Steve Hoefer is the brains behind this high tech version of the classic children’s game, where the device will actually be able to analyze past results in order to learn of the best way to exploit your weakness. You know what they say - the strongest chain is only as strong as the weakest link.

Microsoft XNA Game Studio 4.0

Windows Phone 7 will feature Xbox integration, but apart from that, Microsoft didn’t let any other cats out of the proverbial bag. Well, this could change soon with more clues unearthed about the future of mobile gaming on Microsoft’s new mobile platform. The introduction of XNA Game Studio 4.0 will go some ways in making game development for the Windows Phone 7 platform a whole lot easier, since developers can create a game/app and make tweak it to run the Xbox 360 and Windows-based PCs as well. Microsoft has confirmed that it will be equipped with hardware accelerated 3D APIs specific for Windows Phone 7. Kudos to Microsoft for letting their hair down with this - the ball is in the developer’s court to come up with something good now!

PlayStation Move Hands-On

PlayStation owners, rejoice! Soon you will stop hearing “when are you getting a Wii?” from your friends and family. Sony has just announced the PlayStation Move at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Presented last year at E3 (in fanfare), it is now a real product that will be sold as a bundle (game+ EyeToy webcam + PS Move) for $100. If you add the secondary controller, and make that a set of two, the bill will fairly quickly. So, how is it?

Atari 2600 joystick soap

If more and more soap that you see in department stores start to look like this lovingly created Atari 2600 joystick shape, then chances are we’ll just forgo bathing or use liquid soap instead, since using this would be “painful” for the sentimental types. Retailing for $3 a pop, they would look great in any bathroom, while giving you a fruity grape scent as you scrub down. This is definitely not waterproof just like its real life counterpart.

Sony Patents Degradable Video Game Demos

Sony Patents Degradable Video Game Demos

Sony has patented a new kind of video game demo, though it’s probably not the kind of video game demo that we’d want to get. The patent describes a demo that will have its features eroded over time, which just means that it will become less and less enjoyable to play. A good example would be your weapon being weakened over time, or a racing game losing race tracks once you’ve reached a preset number of plays. The features will be reinstated when you finally purchase the game. Such a system would probably encourage developers to offer more trials, which would probably be good marketing, and shouldn’t steal any thunder away from the full version of the game, so maybe there’s a silver lining to all of this?
