Seven45 Studios SixString guitar gaming controller

Seven45 Studios unveiled their amazing looking SixString guitar controller for the gaming showpiece known as Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, where it is an actual electric guitar that can be plugged into an amp. Both the game and guitar will be sold together, where folks with more experienced fingers will be able to benefit from the action of chording, as this is a whole lot more challenging since it requires specific finger placement on the strings. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms will sport this game, and while pricing details have not been fleshed out for its fall release, we do know it will cost a fair bit considering the type of hardware it comes with.

LED skirt lights up the night

LED skirt lights up the night

Fashion design student Kristi Kuusk who is a student at University of São Paulo came up with the bright idea (no pun intended) of a LED crocheted skirt. Interestingly enough, the sparkle will light up only when the skirt and ring come together, where the LEDs will then light up as a reflection of snow’s shiny effect in the darkness. Definitely not something we’re going to send to the washing machine just like that, since the upkeep and maintenance of such tech-inclined fashion wear is possibly more trouble than it is worth.

Chrome OS tablet is no unicorn

The Chrome OS tablet is not a fable, with Freescale parading their Chrome-powered tablet that comes with a 7″ display. It will retail for around $200 a pop when released, running on hardware which is known as the i.MX51. Well, assuming the two Benjamin price point remains, it will definitely prove to be a worthy competitor to whatever tablet that hits the market, but the question remains as to what the point of Freescale’s Chrome-powered tablet is meant for. Would you get a tablet simply because it is cheap?

4N watch looks groovy

The 4N watch that you see here does look out of the ordinary thanks to a disc-based mechanism which will rotate all four numbers (hence the name) into position for you to get the current time at a single glance. All three discs are made out of aluminum or a titanium alloy, where the MVT01 movement will be exposed to the eye. There will only be 16 of such units available worldwide, so you would most probably have to pony up a handsome amount if you want to bring one of these puppies home.

LEDs on Ikea coffee table

Check out this ordinary Ikea coffee table which has been hacked to include a whole bunch of LEDs - we’re talking about 6,144 of these in total. Tobias, the brain and hands behind this mod, sourced a trio of display boards from Sure Electronics for a total of 96 8×8 modules. These boards rely on a serial interface to be addressed, where a quartet of serial lines are used for each board although a shared data bus for each of the row select pins and the data/latch/clock pins. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into DIY goodness to enhance the overall look of your home.

Maze of Time mouse

Maze of Time mouse

Andy Kurovets’ latest design outing would be the Maze Of Time, where it relies on colors to tell the current time. For example, the chaotic yellow line represents the number “1″, while blue is “2″, with “3″ being red and 4″ being green, and so on and so forth. Perhaps TokyoFlash folks are kicking themselves in the rear end for not thinking of such a design first. Ah well, we want something convenient and easy to understand at first glance, so using this will definitely require a fairly steep learning curve.

Yike Bike electric folding bicycle

The Yike Bike electric folding bicycle is pretty interesting - who would’ve thought that something like this would ever hit the market? While it might be the lightest and smallest of its kind in the world, it definitely ain’t cheap at $4,450 a pop. Guess the same applies to anything with a superlative word in them. Designed and constructed in Christchurch New Zealand, the Yike Bike weighs a mere 10 kgs, and can hit a top speed of 25km/h. It is made out of carbon composite to achieve its lightweight frame, and takes 30 minutes to recharge fully.

Dr. Yi ebook reader

The Dr. Yi ebook reader could very well change the way ebooks are manufactured, thanks to its high-resolution electronic paper. This is a genuine technological revolution that offers a crisp black-and-white display, making it look as though you were reading on printed paper itself. After all, it is capable of reflecting light similar to the way an ordinary paper does without the need for any backlighting, doing away with the glare which are normally associated with other electronic displays. This $315 device will run on a Linux operating system, an ARM9 200MHz processor as well as 22 hours of battery life. No idea on its content delivery system though.
