Nokia has released a bunch of new special edition phones known as the Nokia Illuvia. Within this series, you will find the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Illuvia, Nokia 6700 Illuvia and Nokia 6303 Illuvia making up the numbers. What’s so different about the Illuvia line? Well, they now come with a purplish case alongside artistic wallpapers which are - you′ve guessed it, purple in color. They were specially made for The Phone House in the Netherlands, making us wonder whether other countries outside of Holland will be able to see these handsets grace their shores or not.

Folks in South Korea who are feeling flush even in these tough times might want to consider picking up the Pantech Sky DuPont IM-U510LE via SK Telecom, where this full candybar handset will boast golden accents for that added touch of class, although some people might mistake this for some sort of lighter at first glance. It will come with a full 3″ touchscreen display at 240 x 400 resolution, GPS navigation support, DMB TV, a built-in music player, email and a microSD memory card slot. The Pantech Dupont can also open up just like a DuPont lighter to reveal a 3-megapixel camera, and the entire thing will cost you around $830 - which is more or less the most expensive phone from Pantech to date.

Skullcandy has often merged fashion and technology, and their latest SKDY 0.25″ Adapter Necklace certainly rolls back the years, turning parts of old 0.25″ stereo headphones into a fashionable necklace. Too bad this is but a fashion accessory and nothing else - you won’t hear anything coming out from your necklace even when it is plugged into a compatible device of your choice. Would you fork out $9.95 for this?

Looks like the FCC has snagged more information on the upcoming Alcatel Crystal A which is manufactured by TCT Mobile Limited. Like its namesake, the Alcatel Crystal A will bear a decent, artistic design on the outside with a host of crystals, although it remains to be seen whether those are real precious stones or not. Features are basic though, what with an integrated camera of unknown megapixel count, an integrated FM tuner, audio and video playback, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity and Java support.

Mobileburn has some images of what it believes is a Mobiado Handset that would be part of the “Grand Line” series of luxury phones. As you can see the phone is plenty shiny and uses sapphire (instead of glass) for the display , because of its natural resistance to scratches. We don’t have the technical details, but now you know that it’s out there…

Some people pick up an iPhone not because it is easy to use and nice to look at, they treat this handset as though it is a status symbol of sorts. Well, put those wannabes and pretenders to shame with the $34,000 solid gold iPhone from Stuart Hughes, where the luxurious handset is finished and polished by hand. In addition, the Apple logo itself is decorated with 53 diamonds - more than you’ll ever own in your lifetime (for the average Joe, at least). We wonder who would pay such an insane price for a blinged up piece of tech - won’t it be better to invest that kind of money on real diamonds that aren’t attached to technology that gets obsolete?

What the heck - this is one product which has a really zany name, known as ‘Kiss the LUVU’! We suppose it is a play on “Kiss the lover”, but the lover here isn’t one’s other half but a diamond or really large precious stone, since Kiss the LUVU is actually a jewelry box with a twist - it comes equipped with LED lights and is currently available in the Korean market. The presence of an integrated heat detector will know whenever someone kisses it, as that act will open up the jewelry box. Definitely lacking a serious security measure for something that holds extremely expensive items within, but at least this is one of the more novel methods of opening a jewelry box if we’ve ever seen one!

Mattel is hoping to generate a new revenue stream by churning out a new line of products that fall under the “beautronics” category - and the Barbie Digital Nail Printer is the candidate up for the task. The Nail Printer was specially designed to transfer images from the computer onto your fingernails via thermal inkjet technology, using specially-formulated cosmetic grade ink. All you need to do is insert your finger into the machine and the digital camera inside will capture an image of your fingernails, sending it to the computer for processing. With the help of a pre-loaded Barbie software, you then choose from over a thousand image designs to see a live preview of the image that has been superimposed on your nail. There is also the option to upload your own pictures, so you could even end up with the faces of your family members on all 10 digits. It takes approximately 10 to 15 seconds to complete each nail, and the Barbie Digital Printer is slated for a Fall 2009 release at a yet undisclosed price. Do you think that this will be as successful as the Barbie MP3 player?
