Apple says 27-inch iMac displays are good to go

It has taken months, but at least Apple has come good with their range of 27″ iMac displays, touting the problems to be fixed thanks to a couple of its software updates. According to Apple, “We′ve addressed the issues that caused display flickering and yellow tint. Customers concerned that their iMac is affected should contact AppleCare.” Well, if you happen to be a proud owner of the 27″ iMac and have already applied both updates, how is your machine faring? Do you still run into any problems, or are you perfectly happy with what Apple has done?

i-tab electronic songbook

Not too sure what took so long for an electronic songbook to be invented despite having the proper technology to do so after all this while - we’re talking about the i-tab which comes with a 5″ touchscreen display which is capable of displaying and scrolling through chords and lyrics in perfect synchronization as you play, functioning as a sort of musical teleprompter for guitar players. Equipped with 4GB of internal storage space, it ought to prove enough to tote around thousands of tabs which can be purchased and downloaded off i-tab online Tab Store. There are now 5,000 tabs available, with another 500 or so being added to that number weekly. Other specifications of the i-tab electronic songbook includes a built-in speaker, a headphone port, USB connectivity, a stylus and video out. Expect to pick one up this April for $199.

Weigh to go helps check against excess luggage

Those who travel frequently know what a hassle it is when it comes to packing your baggage, ensuring that it does not surpass the weight limit in any way so that you won’t be slapped with exorbitant charges. Well, why not get the Weigh to go unit, as this device relies on a couple of Velcro straps as well as a lockable steel carabineer that prevents folks from stealing it. Of course, anyone with nefarious intentions will be able to take off with it if they want to, but for the ordinary man on the street, it is much more trouble than worth. Weigh to go retails for $33, and it will be able to get a reading of your luggage’s weight (in kgs or pounds) after you lift the tag for 5 seconds.

O2 introduces cheaper iPhone rates

O2 UK is going to counter Vodafone’s recent SIM-only plan through a somewhat similar one of its own, specially for iPhone users. The current monthly “simplicity for iPhone” plans are going for £15 for a 1-year contract or £20 contract-free, giving folks who are already iPhone owners a much more budget-friendly method to use the device without sacrificing any of its features. The most basic level plan offers 300 minutes, unlimited data, UK texting and Wi-Fi with tethering as an option for £2 per day (maximum) or a flat £10 monthly fee for 3GB of use. There are other plans that scale up the data usage, so it really depends on your mobile lifestyle, really.

No Flash for Windows Mobile 6.5

No Flash for Windows Mobile 6.5

If you happen to use a smartphone running on the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, then this isn’t good news for you - it seems that Adobe has indicated that Windows Mobile 6.5 users won’t be able to use Flash 10.1, as that version only applies to Windows Phone 7 owners. According to Adobe’s Antonio Flores, “We have made the tough decision to defer support for that platform until WinMo7. This is due to the fact that WinMo6.5 does not support some of the critical APIs that we need”. Android users will have to do a double take as well, since those handsets sans an ARM ң Cortex chipset are also unable to download Flash 10.1 either. Bummer!

MOVON MB20 Buzz Band

Bluetooth technology doesn′t seem to expand to many different uses, with it being seemingly limited to just hooking you up to a handsfree kit or wireless audio purposes. Guess the technology is limited in many ways, but that doesn′t mean that new devices for it cannot be released, right? Enter MOVON’s wearable Bluetooth buzz band known as the MB20, where it will alert you of incoming calls by vibrating as you wear it around your wrist. Would be better if it came with its own watch display to add more functionality, but we′ll have to take what we can at the moment. Choose from white, black and brown colors, with pricing details yet to be confirmed.

MiLi iPhone Projector

Strange to know that the MiLi iPhone Projector (which plays nice with newer iPods and the iPhone, so don’t be fooled by the name) is a UK-only device, where it goes for £229 each. Why can’t they just ship it over across the Atlantic for those who want one, we wonder? Anyways, we digress - this device does as it says, throwing up to a 70″ image on a suitable viewing surface of any video or image slideshow that you are currently going through, boasting a battery life of 1.5 hours alongside the ability for it to hook up to other external video devices (as long as they’re compatible, that is). It has a fully adjustable focus and is also equipped with its own stand. Any takers?
