ExoPC Slate Looks Vaguely Like The Apple iPad

It looks like the market certainly is getting flooded with tablet computers. Next up is the ExoPC Slate, which looks rather similar to Apple’s recently announced iPad. Since the ExoPC Slate is powered by Windows 7, you&rsquoll be able to do more than a few things that the iPad can&rsquot do, such as multitasking. This 8.9-inch multitouch tablet is priced at $599, which should put it on par with the 32GB iPad, in terms of price point anyways. Specifications of the ExoPC Slate include:

  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor
  • Powered by Windows 7
  • 2GB of DDR2 memory
  • 32GB SSD with SD card expansion.
  • 4 hour battery life with the included user-replaceable battery.

Some Editions Of The HTC HD2 Have More RAM?

There is no denying that the HTC HD2 is an extremely capable and powerful smartphone, especially with its 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. Despite its already impressive specs, which include a nice 448MB of ram, nobody is going to complain about more RAM, right? Surprisingly, some folks have discovered that their HTC HD2 units have a little extra memory (576MB), albeit in a disabled state. Of course, it’s not like it’s a huge difference like a 1GB bump or something, but every little bit helps, right? Those of you who own a HTC HD2, have you noticed this issue?

First Mass-produced Camera Heading For Auction

Are you a huge camera collector? Well, if you are, you’ve probably heard of the Giroux Daguerreotype camera, the world’s first commercially produced camera. This is probably your best chance to get it, as the camera, produced in 1839, will be going up for auction on 29th May in Vienna for a starting price of just €200,000 ($277,000) at the auction house WestLicht Photographica Auction. It’s estimated that the camera might end up going for as high as €700,000 ($970,000). Considering that we’ve seen an iPhone go for $3.2 million, this should be pocket change for some people, right? The Daguerreotype camera sports a sliding, or &ldquodouble box&rdquo body. You&rsquoll be able to achieve a fixed focus by pulling the smaller inner box away from the front-mounted achromatic landscape lens. It&rsquos said to be in excellent original condition, and will even come with the original 24-page instruction manual, which is written in German. Do you think this camera deserves a place in your collection, or would you be better off putting that money aside from the super expensive iPhone 3GS Supreme?

Proto-2 Humanoid Robot

Proto-2 Humanoid Robot

Robots used to look cool and all, just look at robots like Robocop, Transformers and whatever. Now it seems the trend is to build robots that look creepy, rather than cool and robot-like. The folks over at Advanced Robotic Systems Laboratories (ARSL) are busy showing off their new Proto-2 robot, and it&rsquos just as creepy as the robots that most people are coming up with nowadays. It is designed partly to aid in the study of human-robot interaction, and thus packs an expressive face, complete with moving eyebrows and a (more) natural walking gait, thanks to a new dynamic toe-joint that they developed. If this trend keeps up, we&rsquore going to have to ask the folks we meet by the roadside in the future if they&rsquore robots.

Jupiter Jack Hooks Your Phone Up To Your Car Speaker System

Jupiter Jack Hooks Your Phone Up To Your Car Speaker System

Do you think that your Bluetooth headset’s volume is way too low? Well, the Jupiter Jack might be able to do something about that. It can plug into any cell phone headphone jack, and after you tune your car radio to 99.3 FM, you’ll be able to start yakking away. Volume shouldn’t be a problem anymore, as the sound will be transmitted through your car speakers. At $9.98, it’s certainly a cheap alternative to the more expensive Bluetooth solutions. Of course, the need to use the frequency of 99.3 FM only might be a downside of this, since you might be in an area that needs that channel. Still, at such a price, you can’t go far wrong.

Portable Gliding Simulator Can Be Towed Around

Portable Gliding Simulator Can Be Towed Around

Here’s a rather innovative design. You don’t often hear the words “portable” and “simulator” going hand in hand, but there you have it &ndash the Portable Gliding Simulator. While it weighs in at 450kg, it’s still considered a portable, as it’s built on a trailer base, so it can be closed off and towed around at the back of your (powerful) car. The projection screen is actually the roof of the trailer, so it all packs up real nice, which certainly seems like a very useful design. Despite it’s compact design, the simulator features a full working instrument panel, cockpit and head tracking system. There isn’t any price tag attached to it just yet, but you can be sure a simulator of this size will cost more than your average lunch money.

Mini Hottie Handwarmer

The Mini Hottie Handwarmer seems like something that would be really useful during a cold winter’s day. It’s small enough to fit into your pocket or backpack, and will be able to give you a little warmth when needed. It comes in a knitted cover, so your frozen fingers won’t have to be shocked by the heat, rather they will be eased into it. For £4.99, it doesn&rsquot seem too expensive. If you&rsquore wondering how this dinky little warmer generates heat, you&rsquoll want to hear what the reseller has to explain about its magic:

“All you have to do is click the magic clicky thing inside it and a chemical reaction will turn the liquid inside into a stiff mass of warmth (please don’t ask us to be any more scientific than that, it’ll only make our brains hurt). When the Hottie has turned into a Not-Hottie, all you need to do is pop it in a pan of boiling water for a fifteen minutes and it will be ready to use over and over again. “

Ainol V8000HDV PMP Supports 1280p Video Playback

With everybody jumping on the HD bandwagon nowadays, the Ainol V8000HDV looks like it might be well received, thanks to its 1280p playback support. Of course, it wouldn’t make all that much difference on the device’s 4.3-inch 800 x 480 screen, but thanks to the magic of HDMI-output, you can play the video on a HD LCD display that supports 1280p. The V8000HDV will sport 16GB of flash storage, though we wonder how many HD videos you can cram into just 16GB of storage space. For $142, you’ll get a device that supports TS, AVI, MP4, MPG, MKV, PSP, DAT, VOB, WMV, ASF, RM, RMVB, MOV, M2V, QT, M2A videos, not to mention that there will be support for SRT subtitles on AVI and RMVB videos
