Microwaved Nintendo Wii On Sale

We′ve put many different items in the microwave before, but we certainly haven′t done what Kenny Irwin has done. In a world where many people queue up for long periods in order to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii, it certainly seems wasteful to microwave the whole Nintendo Wii, but that’s just what happened here, and there is even a video detailing the whole gory process. To top things off, this item is going for nearly $6,000 on eBay. Of course, if you think that it’s too expensive, you could always just stick whatever console you own into your own microwave. Note: We’re joking on that! Fire hazard!

Reocities To Salvage GeoCities

For those of you who have dabbled around the Internet before, you’ll surely have visited a couple of GeoCities sites, crammed to the brim with the customary flashy (and very irriating) GIFs and music playing. When Yahoo! decided to take down GeoCities, a lot of us shed a tear for that piece of Internet history, but someone took it one step further, and created Reocities, and took it upon himself to rescue and estimated 600,000 GeoCities sites before it was shutdown. If you still want to check out what GeoCities sites used to look like, you can check out www.reocities.com.

Bing Becomes More Mobile Friendly

Bing Becomes More Mobile Friendly

It looks like Microsoft is stepping up the war against Google with its newly refreshed version of Bing for mobile devices (m.bing.com). This revamped site has been optimized for touch-screen devices, sporting finger-friendly buttons which are much easier to press, not to mention other useful features such as a movie finger, allowing users to browse what movie is playing nearby and also the time and theater. The new version only works with the iPhone/iPod touch, T-Mobile G1, Samsung Omnia, Verizon Imagio and the Zune HD, so if you’re using other phone models, you’ll get a much simpler version of the site. The bad news is that this new version is only available for folks in the US, so tough luck if you’re overseas. Will Google start sweating over this development? Probably not, but it should keep a wary eye on Microsoft’s Bing, at least.

Nintendo Wii 2 Details Leaked?

With the success of Nintendo’s Wii, it really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone to hear that a “Wii 2” is in the works. There isn’t anything official just yet, but word on the street is that it should be released in Q3 of 2010, and will be rolled out worldwide simultaneously, not to mention there will be trade-in programs to sweeten the deal. While there aren’t any concrete specs just yet, it seems that there will be a built-in Blu-ray drive (probably to counter piracy) and also support for 1080p games and movies. Hopefully Nintendo will also do something to improve on the already cool motion sensing capabilities of its Wiimote.

Creeper2 spider pumpkin bot

Want to creep trick-or-treaters this Halloween? If only you had the technical know how to make the Creeper2 robot that is actually a spider pumpkin bot, moving around with a Jack-O-Lantern on its back to literally cause real screams from its unsuspecting victims. Running on an Axon microcontroller, it relies on all digital servos with the ability to lift over twice its body weight. The software enables six synchronous degrees of motion, while future additions will probably include foot sensors and a remote control option.

FaceID system for easy recognition

Identity theft is a huge problem these days, but here’s a way to maintain some semblance of security in your home or office - the FaceID system. Capable of storing digital profiles for up to 500 unique faces, it will use those stored profiles to validate the identity of those who stare into its camera lenses. Two digitial cameras will enable the FaceID system to recreate a 3-dimensional image of the individual’s face, letting the results go through a face detection algorithm to match their face to its internal database. It also does away with the traditional workaround of holding up a photo, where it is full well capable of working in the dark while countering irregularities in lighting conditions.
