Philips has unveiled a couple of touchscreen capable handsets - the X806 and the C702 which will most probably arrive in China in due time. The former will measure 14mm thin, where it comes with a 3.5″ TFT display at 240 x 400 resolution, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, an integrated FM radio, 47MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot. Shame to see 3G connectivity missing from this considering its potential. Up next would be the CDMA 1X Philips C702 handset that will come with a 1.3-megapixel camera, a 3.4″ QVGA display, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, 70MB internal memory and a microSD memory card slot. No idea on the pricing for either handset.

Most netbooks that we know of lack an optical disc drive for obvious reasons, but the Webbook will come with a built-in CD/DVD drive - trust the folks in China to come up with something like this. Tucked nicely in no man’s land, the Webbook will probably run on Linux or Windows XP, where it will feature other similar netbook specifications ranging from its Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11/b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity and a 10.1″ display at 1,024 x 600 resolution. Don’t expect this to be super slim though since it will sport the aforementioned optical disc drive, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too, right?

Sharp’s NetWalker PC-Z1 has just been unboxed, and it would be interesting to see which party would pick up this device considering it comes with a paltry 5″ display alongside a full QWERTY keyboard. When posed beside a can of Coke, it looks absolutely small, so good luck trying to get your fingers used to its tiny keyboard. Apparently it will run on Ubuntu Linux, and does skirt the line between a super small netbook and a Mobile Internet Device. Powered by an 800MHz Freescale i.MX515 processor, you get 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a 1,024 x 600 resolution display. Better luck picking a proper netbook with its $590 price tag.
