Luxeed L5 LED Multicolor Keyboard

There is nothing quite like having a space age keyboard on your desk to wow colleagues as well as friends who drop by, and the Luxeed U5 LED multicolor keyboard looks set to do the job well. This version will offer both Mac and Linux support - something that was missing from its predececssor, and the color patterns can be programmed to suit your mood at the moment. The LED system was also changed to reduce ghosting, while a firmware updater utility has been thrown in for good measure. Overall, the responsiveness of the keys had also increased. Definitely one of the more attractive keyboards around, rivaling the amount of colors found on Joseph’s Technicolor coat itself.

FCC Approves Sony Ericsson W518a

Sony Ericsson’s W518a was first leaked out last month, and we were left wondering just how much longer do we have to wait for this clamshell Walkman phone to hit the streets. Well, good news - the FCC has just approved this handset, and we do know that it will be available via AT&T. While an exact release date is still unknown, the next few months would be a pretty good bet. The Sony Ericsson W518a will come with a QVGA internal display, external dedicated music controls, stereo Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.2–megapixel camera. In the meantime, some of us still hold out and hope that the 8-megapixel shooter C905a will be released earlier, which is much too long after the initial fall 2008 speculated release date.

Dell Adds Art Choices For Its Studio Notebooks

Dell is adding more than 120 designs to its studio line, which was already very diverse. The photos speak for themselves, but you should take a look at all the designs to have a better idea of what’s available.

You might like the designs or not, but we think that it is amazing that Dell can actually get this done “for order”, instead of stacking up 10,000 units of each (which would be totally impossible). In a previous conversation with Dell, we had been told that it is possible that one day, users would be able to upload their own design directly. That - would be so cool! Dell design studio

Nokia Takes A Beating Online About Slow N97 Processor

Nokia Takes A Beating Online About Slow N97 Processor

Nokia is feeling the heat today when people on all sides lashed on the Arm11 434Mhz that it is using in the flagship N97 phone. Given the high tag price of the device ($600 without contract?), critics are right to complain the Arm11 architecture is quite old, I think that PDAs actually ran with that a while back. Now we usually don’t care about the Mhz themselves, but there’s one thing that is intolerable: a non-responsive phone.

Nokia might work some magic to avoid having a sluggish phone, but it seems difficult at this point and their hardware isn’t helping for sure. The iPhone is currently using a 667Mhz Arm-based CPU.

Mobile Phone Shipments Experience Massive Decline

Mobile Phone Shipments Experience Massive Decline

Research firm Strategy Analytics said that we experienced a drop of 13% in units when compared to 2008. Nokia’s unit shipped dropped 19% to 115.5M, Motorola sold 14.7M handsets a 50% drop. Sony Ericsson is down 35% in unit shipments.

Not everyone is affected the same way: Samsung was down 1%, LG 7% and Apple was up by 123%. The market is basically rewarding those who create more customer value. Nokia is still working hard on its platform strategy, Sony Ericsson has found itself to be behind technologically and Motorola seems like an old boxer at round 14. Good luck to all.
