The Breathing Bud device is a concept that gives a visual indicator of your air quality at home (or wherever else you place it) using color codes. It was designed to look like a pleasant bud, where vents at the base will suck in the air for analysis. A blue bud would point towards good quality air, while a pink light means you ought to do something about the air quality around you, where moving to the countryside would be the best bet. The Breathing Bud is powered by being connected via USB to your computer, where it will also use the same connection to transfer relevant analyzed data. We would have liked to see the Breathing Bud feature a green color instead to indicate great quality air to go along with the overall green theme.

Softbank has made available a bunch of hand-made lacquered cases under the Japan Texture range, and these are unlike any other case you’ll find on the market at the moment - in Japan, at least. Bear in mind being hand-made, these won’t be cheap since they are not mass produced in some factory somewhere in China. There are only 50 units for each design, and they will retail for $407 apiece. We need not say that each Japan Texture case that is spoilt or thrown away, the remaining ones will increase in value - just like whatever’s left of the original 399 Ferrari Enzos.

T-Mobile ˇ users will be pleased to know that the Android Cupcake 1.5 update is now available, but do take note that customized ROMs will be able to thwart the ˇ’s ability to receive the update notification. Good thing that removing those cooked ROMs isn’t exactly a tough thing to do, so make sure that gets done before the official Cupcake update can be applied. For those who have already made the jump, how do you find it so far?

Check out this Apple netbook concept that looks set to move a gazillion units if it were ever to be released, so hopefully some boffin from Cupertino would be reading this and head straight to the drawing board to come up with something similarly stunning. The concept will boast a portable Home directory, where your entire Home folder is stored in a cloud on Apple’s servers. Files that are most frequently accessed will be cached locally, and it will be powered by the iPhone OS which ought to be sufficient for everyday use. You can also dock the Apple netbook to recharge it as well as increase its flexibility with a whole host of USB and FireWire ports thrown in for good measure. There is also an option to connect a keyboard if you want to do a fair bit of typing on this. Anyone wishes this is a concept device that ought to see the light of day?
