Gaming Accused of Deforming Kids Fingers

It’s been a weeks since gaming has been accused of something wrong. Usually accusations gravitate around kids becoming psychos, epileptic and so on… This time, it’s about how gaming could deform fingers, especially on children younger than 8 years old. Take a look at the video report below. There are interesting details like the caption “former gamer” just below Whitney Leverette’s name. Apparently, she can’t play games anymore due to the damage caused by “excessive gaming”.

They have studied “hundreds” of cases, apparently. I’ve never heard or seen this before but I’m not in this young crowd anymore. Do you know any kid who’s suffering from finger deformation due to excessive gaming? What about bicycles? I heard that a lot of kids get grave injuries from those.

Foxconn Creates an Android Team - For Motorola?

Foxconn Creates an Android Team - For Motorola?

Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer has created an internal A-Team (“A” as in Android), some say to build Android-based phones for Motorola (see previous rumor). We don’t know if this is true or not, but whether or not Motorola is a customer, or even the first Android customer of Foxconn, the fact is: Foxconn cannot escape from Android. More phone makers will want in and having a team to serve them is imperative.

Foxconn is a company that’s unknown to most consumers because they work in the shadow of established brands. Chances are, you’ve handled a device that was made by Foxconn in the past. Motorola, Apple, Dell, HP, Sony or Amazon (and more) are among its customers

Seagate To have a 2TB HDD Next Month (Rumor)

Seagate might have a 2TB drive next month to counter Western Digital’s offering. These drives are relatively well priced, and it looks like they have been selling well, so there’s definitely a market there. That said, take this as a rumor because that’s what it is.

Sony Soundville, What’s That?

Sony is building up a viral marketing effort that promotes Soundville - whatever that is. One might suspect that it’s a new line of audio/home theater equipment, but the video clip does not provide any meaningful information. Your guess is as good as ours.

LEGO Movie Theater

Is there nothing enough LEGO bricks and some imagination cannot achieve? We guess not, with the LEGO movie theater you see here as evidence. What makes this even more special is the inclusion of an actual, tiny movie projector that works at 24 fps. Well, 24 fps ain’t too optimal for viewing, but we presume LEGO minifigs come with a slightly different eyesight setup compared to us humans. What are the other type of dioramas that you would like to see come in LEGO bricks?

Turtle USB Hub

Turtle USB Hub

This poor, beleaguered Turtle USB Hub will definitely not find too many fans unless folks are sadistic enough to subject the image of a turtle to constant slavery by the computer. Equipped with a quartet of USB 2.0 ports just like any other decent USB hub does, this model goes one up on the rest by offering a safe haven by opening its shell for paperclips and other small items that tend to go missing. The head itself looks rather creepy to us though, as you get some sort of covering across its eyes. No wonder it landed up on a desk by a computer instead of swimming in the sea with its brethren, having evolved into a USB hub according to Darwinian speculation.

Samsung HT-WS1 Soundbar

Soundbars seem to be getting more and more popular these days, and Samsung is quick to catch on the fad/fact by rolling out its HT-W̿. This soundbar is able to throw 260W of pure power over 2.1 channels, simulating surround sound despite measuring a mere 2.6″ deep. In addition, it looks wide enough for you to tell the difference between right and left channels, while the wireless subwoofer prevents you from tripping up or handling a mangled mess of wires in your speaker setup. You can expect to fork out $350 for the HT-W̿ as it is made available this April.

Braille Could Make Its Way To Touchscreen Devices

Braille Could Make Its Way To Touchscreen Devices

Touchscreen devices seem to be all the rage these days, but unfortunately for the blind, they won’t be able to enjoy all the goodness of the iPhone or HTC touch. Well, nothing beats human genius with a new method to represent Braille characters on a mobile device, paving the way to what could be a Braille-ready touchscreen phone. Jussi Rantala of the University of Tampere in Finland as well as fellow colleagues banded together, using a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet as their device of choice while installing a software which is able to represent a raised dot as a single pulse of intense vibration, while an absent dot is a longer vibration that comprises of several weaker pulses. This will definitely give the blind more options to “communicate” with the world around them.
