I have friends that scratch their shag pile heads of hair more than most pets but does that mean I’d resort to pinning them down and unleashing the High Voltage Pet Brush on them? Hell yeah! This Chinese-developed product is designed to help you pet overcome the problems posed by shedding hair, ticks and fleas. Just run this battery-powered brush through their hair and it promises to zap all living things it comes in contact with. Personally, if you love your pet we′d advise caution as it wouldn’t be the first dodgy Chinese electrical gadget that overstated its case, especially on the safety front. Still this is what they say: 1) remove the shedding hair from the pet; 2) high voltage supplied by low voltage can kill the flea and other living things attached to the pet 3)suitable for cats & dogs and other long hair pets; 4) operated by 2*AAA batteries; Still, while I mightn’t use it on pets I have some friends that would fall easily under the “long hair pets” category. Just add some absinthe and the USB Absinthe Spoon and pretty much any kind twisted hair care abuse is possible. No idea what it costs but can find out a little bit more here.-Martin Lynch [Baxterboo] pets gadgets fun

OK, there’s not a lot you can do to make memory exciting but Samsung is hoping to make up for that with some cool breakthrough that will allow for 32GB DDR3 memory modules. The company has used 50nm technology to create the first 4GB DDR memory chip which offers significantly more capacity but, more importantly, consumes a lot less power. Samsung is aiming the memory chip at PC makers looking to create greener PCs and laptops. The 4GB chip will be used in 8GB unbuffered DIMM for workstations and desktop PCs and 8GB small-outline DIMM for laptops. DDR3 is 8 times faster than DDR2 memory and uses 30% less power. The new 50nm 4GB chip comes 5 months after Samsung introduced the first 2GB chips built using the 50nm process. According to IDC, DDR3 will account for 29% of the overall DRAM market in 2011. Samsung has not yet revealed when we might see such modules on the market though so we think it best you don’t hold your breath.-Martin Lynch memory pc

Do you miss the days where a watch is a watch is a watch, and did nothing else but tell the time accurately along with the date? Well, we don’t, and instead love our timepieces to function not only as a fashion statement but a technological wonder as well. The Garmin FR60 watch might mislead some into thinking that there is a built-in GPS system (no thanks to the brand name’s strong association in the GPS business), whereas this is a watch that quietly monitors data from your workout while sending stored data over to your computer for analysis when within a Wi-Fi network. The Garmin FR60 works well with any ANT+ fitness device including heart rate monitors, foot pods, or home and gym equipment. You can choose from his and hers models, and both are able to track and record data for up to 15 hours in addition to 100 laps of detailed exercise data. Needless to say, such a rugged watch is water resistant to cater to those water babies who love wearing one of these puppies.

Solar powered chargers are no longer a novelty these days as they’re getting more and more common, but it is still pretty hard to pinpoint a solar charger that was developed specifically for the iPhone alone. SolLight sees this as a market opportunity by releasing the SOLiCharger that retails for $39.95 a pop. Apparently, four hours of direct sunlight will fully charge up your phone, although if you′re worried about giving your precious handset a sunbath and permanent tan, there is always the less manly option of hooking it up via USB. We wonder whether prolonged exposure to direct sunlight while charging will adversely affect the iPhone in any way. Has anyone’s iPhone melted when left unattended on a dashboard of a car in the desert?

Samsung has taken the short and sweet route with its latest entry level slider handset, the S3500. Recently gaining approval from the FCC, chances are this will be available from AT&T or T-Mobile in the US although nothing is finalized yet. The exterior, as you can see on the right, ain’t too shabby looking - in fact, it is pretty decent from all angles, something entry level phones seem to miss out on to show the world a segregation in class. Features of the Samsung S3500 include :-
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
- QVGA display with 262K colors
- Music player
- FM radio
- 2 megapixel camera
- Bluetooth and USB
- WAP browser, email
- 35MB internal memory
- microSD memory card slot
There is no word on pricing, but it shouldn′t hurt your bank account at all.
